Vegadeo
Vegadeo, at the western end of Asturias and next to the Eo estuary, is a destination that combines nature, history and local life. Its urban center, with stately houses and lively streets, reflects its commercial and riverside past.
The estuary and its surroundings offer ideal landscapes for walks and outdoor activities, such as the Bird Route, perfect for wildlife watching.
Its market and traditional trade fair keep alive the essence of the town, while its proximity to the coast and the Oscos makes it a strategic point to discover the western Asturias.

Vegadeo – Vegadeo Route
Download the route in PDF and KML and follow the route with your mountain bike or MTB. With different levels of difficulty, duration, slope and length. If you don’t have a bike you can rent one.

Route of the “Estraperlo
The route begins in Louteiro, which is accessed after taking a detour to the left shortly before leaving Vegadeo in the direction of Galicia. From the chapel of this village begins the route once used by pilgrims and pilgrims on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, who avoided the main roads to pass products from Galicia to Asturias.

The route starts in the town of A Espía (Vegadeo) and is accessed through the AS-11 road that connects Vegadeo with Los Oscos.

Eo estuary path
The route starts in the center of Vegadeo in the area known as the Fondrigo, located at the exit to Galicia. From here we start the ascent to Miou, where we will find a crossroads where the path forks and we can go on either side, since from this point the route is circular.

Route of the Mazo de Meredo
The route starts in Piantón, a charming village that was once the capital of the council, located about two kilometers from Vegadeo in which we recommend a walk around the square and a visit to the church. We cross the so-called Roman Bridge and take the path to the left towards Arcilo. The path begins with a slight ascent through a deep eucalyptus forest mixed with remnants of native vegetation: chestnut, holly, laurel, … fed by numerous streams.

Two kilometers from the town of Vegadeo is the village of Piantón, which can be reached on foot as the entire route has a sidewalk. It is a beautiful walk along the Suarón River.

The town of Vegadeo has the peculiarity of being crossed by two rivers: the Monjardín and the Suarón, which have twelve bridges that cross them (six each). Taking advantage of this circumstance, the idea was that visitors to Vegadeo could get to know the town center by crossing these bridges, and enriching the visit with a sculpture on each of them.
