The route starts in Villanueva, capital of the council, from where we leave in the direction of Santa Eufemia where there is still a beautiful chapel of popular baroque style built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries that deserves to be visited. Continuing the itinerary along the road and after about three hundred meters of walking, we reach the Castañeira Bridge, and after crossing it we must take a path that goes off to the right, reaching a splendid birch forest next to the abandoned farmhouse of Abilleira.
A few meters ahead we have the possibility of leaving the main road to take a small path on the right that will take us to a strange stone with human shapes and of unknown origin. Returning to the main road we begin the descent along a huge rocky crest until we find the road in the place known as A Ferrería, a toponym that undoubtedly alludes to one of the many forges that were active in these lands throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. After crossing the bridge over the Villanueva River we take a path to the left that runs parallel to it, starting the ascent to the village of Pacios immersed in a dense mass of chestnut and oak trees. Once in Pacios, the route crosses the asphalt track and heads towards an impressive oak forest that covers the two slopes of the valley, descending to Santa Eufemia, where we recommend a visit to the Ecomuseum of Bread. From this point we must return by our tracks to Villanueva.
