It was in the 17th century when this manor house forged the name by which it is known today: Cabeza da Vila. This village house has, among its most precious treasures, a chapel attached, which testifies to its importance throughout history. Today, this house is a model of how to carry out a respectful and rigorous restoration in its natural environment and using the materials of the region. Cabeza da Vila is an exceptional building, open for you and your rest.
And how not to mention the most interesting and important dependence in the life of San Martín de Oscos: The kitchen, that in Cabeza da Vila becomes lareira. In these fires the bases of the rich gastronomy of the area were cooked. From the honey, symbol of good neighborliness, to the delicacies of the excellent cuisine that you can find in our house. Another excellent excuse to take care not only of your rest, but also of your stomach.
In Cabeza da Vila, we offer our homemade breakfast service (included in the price of the rooms) and as an extra in our apartments, as well as dinner service in which we prepare typical dishes of the area such as Oscos veal, cachopos, tripe, cheese boards Oscos and the area, sausages, etc..
Summits, slopes, rivers, forests… routes where to walk or hike, where to breathe or relax.
The landscape is part of the beauty of Cabeza da Vila, and defines in an essential way the hospitality and the mentality in the care of the environment of the inhabitants of San Martín de Oscos through the centuries.
In this land where the four elements of nature go hand in hand. The water of the rivers, the earth, source of life, the purest air to breathe and the fire that burns in the lareiras, gathering people in endless gatherings.
To rest without giving up comfort. To savor the best home cooking and take care of your stomach. To relax and awaken dormant feelings. To stroll along routes you thought had disappeared. Escape from the routine admiring an architecture fused with nature.

This is the original house, with more charm and more history, 100 years the family has worked in this forge, I am not sure that this type of “factories” have eliminated the hunger of the municipality in the years 40 to 60 of the last century but at least they have attenuated it.
